Just finished watching this movie. Critics loved it, but audiences didn’t. I can see it wouldn’t go down well with happy-ending hollywood pap! Criticized for lack of character development, … perhaps that is true.
It is not a traditional Hollywood tale of poor boy makes rich, or bastard gets his just dessert. Better to see this as a panoply of characters within a setting, not a moral tale at all. Does make me wonder what was left on the cutting room floor (perhaps more should have been).
