I have converted my site over to BB2 as I was told to do, but something niggles me… I can’t quite put my finger on it: … but doesn’t BB2 still seem to be a tad ‘clunky’ to you? It certainly seems so to me, it is not for the power user, really.
I have to confess that I was quite excited to convert my site over, and was finally glad that it could be done. But the thrill has slowly vanished with all the niggles that seem to be happening:
- losing an hour or more of unsaved work on numerous occasions just because there’s no auto-save feature;
- the fact that I had to do the conversion of hundreds of pages by myself, by hand copy-paste-copy-paste;
- slow page times for BB2 even after the upgrade;
- putting a page together seems to be frustrating in the extreme (dragging all those boxes, clicking here, clicking there esp. when load times are S.L.O.W.);
- the fact I had to add lots of nofollows by hand (when in WordPress, it could be achieved in a couple of clicks);…
- the obviously dumb situation in which you can’t insert a picture block into the middle of a text block. Instead you have to create two text blocks, and add a picture block in the middle…
leads me to wonder why the whole process just isn’t more polished. When I was working with BB1, I ended up just doing single block pages for the most part. But working some of my pages in BB2, it just doesn’t seem very … well, efficient when you have to copy & paste dozens of blocks to create a finished page.
So I’m back to working with blocks of HTML to get things done. It is just faster, even though I don’t code HTML (I can’t).
Now you may ask, why I don’t UYOH!? I used to, but the delay in switching to BB2 for two of my sites meant that I ended up closing one down, merging the other to my primary site means that it is unlikely I would ever go back to UYOH in its current form without a proper FTP facility.
