Many doctors, midwives and organisations are encouraging mothers to feed babies breast milk instead of the less ‘healthy’ cow-based alternative. In fact, it seems the local hospital in Taipei has gone one step further to create the first human milk bank in Asia.

Focus Taiwan has the story: A human milk bank in Taipei has won recognition from an English association, making it the first internationally certified milk bank in Asia, officials of the Taipei City Hospital, Branch for Women and Children said Monday.

This would be quite useful for feeding children whose mothers have health issues or are adopted or orphaned by circumstances. But the subway in Taipei has even helped mothers by creating special family rooms for mothers to use to feed and care for their newborn, which would make Jesse’s situation a little less awkward!
