If you’re travelling at all this summer, you may want to be equipped for emergency medical assistance, esp. for travellers in dangerous areas of the world, of which there are many.

But travel can be a dangerous activity: you have to deal with climate, disease, strange food, strange languages, and then there’s travel-related accidents all of which may require attention. Car accidents are probably the most frequent of all, whether you are in the car or not. I do know that traffic customs vary wildly and widely.

For example, visitors to Taiwan may not realize that traffic can come in several directions (even in illegal ones) at once, which can mean a nasty surprise visit to the ER. One poorly fellow got hit by a motorcycle riding on the pavement because he didn’t realize people did that here. They do. A lot.

So, be prepared when you travel for unexpected things as well. I know that’s my motto.
