Honestly, some of my friends are probably better off not hearing from me. I don’t intend to drop my friends, but some think it’s better not to send meaningful messages, some think it’s better to send vids or snarky comments or whatever crosses their mind. Some just don’t bother to send anything.

All of which is fine… but the space they occupy in my mind is what makes me sad. I miss their laughter, their insight, their sharing, their warmth. Where did they go? Are we all so wrapped up in ourselves that we forget that we’re part of a bigger picture?

I used to think my friends were jewels in a crown, they provided sparkle and joy in my life. I’d like to believe that is still true, but when they can’t even answer a text message or send a meaningful text… I begin to have my doubts.

Is it better to move on? Perhaps it is. Perhaps it’s time to have new friends… The saying in Chinese is “out with the old, in with the new”! You must choose to be friends with those who want to be with you.

To all my ‘old’ friends: … I’ve known you all years. I love you all but I’m no longer waiting for your messages. Yes, it’s time to move on.

I’ve unfriended a few on FB, and I won’t be checking FB much longer. I’ve deleted WhatsApp from my phone. If you’re reading this, I’m right here. Just drop me a line at the usual email address or text me. I’m going to find me some new people to talk to, new things to do… In the meantime, hang loose.
