Actually, it’s an amazing claim that I found on one best diet supplements. And I suspect it’s true. I’m also wondering the reasons but I think they can be best summarized by these thee points:

1. unrealistic expectations: dieters are usually highly optimistic about how much weight can be lost. We usually overlook the fact that weight put on is the result of our lifestyle… so unless we make a permanent change to our lifestyle, we’re unlikely to be successful.

2. short time horizons: in fact many diet programs, whether exercise-, diet-, or supplement-based, exacerbate the short time scale within which success can be achieved. In reality, few diets will work as promised on the packet.

3. giving up at the first hurdle: as soon as we reach the first hurdle, we fall down. Instead of picking ourselves and getting back on the horse, we just quit. Quitting never taught anyone how to do anything, except quit.

One blogger managed to get some weight loss by blogging about it, but one wonders what will happen when she stops blogging about it! Let’s hope she doesn’t quit!
