I’d like to enjoy these… but the editing of the images needs some work
The street vibe is a popular choice but for fashion photography it should never be the careless choice. Nor should the pictures be SOOC. Never. Why?
First, curation is one of the issues. Unsurprisingly, I can’t find these images on their SM account, where I first saw them. But that could be due to sheer volume of images.
But the bigger problems lie with the choices made by the photographer. The many objects in the background are much too in-focus. It’s hard to tell if the model is advertising or just standing there. These might be fine in an Instagram pf buried away on a personal profile. Additionally, I feel the grunge is too distracting for a fashion shoot: closer cropping would eliminate some and add a focus to the shots.
Thirdly, the crop on some of the shots is weird. The first thing that annoys me is cropped feet. That could simply be due to FB’s limited format. But perusing the model shots on the SM account, it seems to be a common occurrence. It’s not like there isn’t enough vertical room to crop either.
But the sheer size of the range of products & the feed the algo drive of modern SM mean that the volume of photographs required is probably too great to have high standards for each image. The site editors face quite a challenge in selecting images and promoting, which is why these probably got posted.
There could simply be an explanation: these are street shoots by a fan photographer with an Iphone. I’m never going to know since they’re uncredited. For the photographer this may not be a bad thing.
