If everyone accepted pacifism, then there really would be no more war. Who would fight? But if we continue as we are doing, then…
… we all face a tricky future with war in Europe, nuclear blustering in several continents, nascent fascists seeking power, and disintigrating nuclear weapons deals!
But Pacifism isn’t the solution yet.
The trouble with pacifism is that bullies equate pacifism with weakness. Pacifism is not inherently a weak position. It’s recognition that fighting means everyone loses, it’s recognition that differences can be resolved through other non-violent means.
However, our societies and their leaders have not resolved to avoid war at all costs. Yet. Until that happens, pacifism is always going to be threatened by aggression. After all, the right to defend yourself with violence is as inalienable as air.
Can humanity evolve beyond violence?
I ask the leaders of all groups, countries and organisations who seek to use violence:
- can YOU evolve beyond violence?
- can YOU resolve differences via dialog?
- can YOU give you up your weapons of war?
- are you evolved enough to use your mouth and brain to solve your problems?
Or are you brutish like a savage who’s contracted rabies?
