It’s true. There are no easy answers. But one thing never goes out of style: timed/written work where students can’t access their phones. Then you find out who’s got it, and who’s lost themselves to ChatGPT.

Of course, multiple choice answers are the secret sauce for most teachers here. They’ve never learned to grade written papers. The admin system is against written papers… but it’s where students swim or drown. It always has been. Multiple choice questions don’t teach skills, esp. the skill of writing extended answers.
