Dear Taiwan!

You are adorable but what is with your ATM cards or Easycards or CCs? You just leave them lying all over the place for me to find!

I found yet another one last night! It’s like the 4th or 5th this year.

  • Found one 50m from a police station!
  • Found one hanging on a bush!
  • Found one a bike track calling out to me!
  • Found one at a parking meter on a table!
  • Found $1000!
  • Found an ID card!
  • Found a Library/Student Card!
  • Found a chop!
  • My wife found $300K one time in a bag! Yes!

I no longer like to return them to the police station… because the officer always seems to want to: know who I am, see my id card, leave my phone number, and file a report… whatever. I don’t want a reward, either. It’s too much interrogation for my good deed of returning something!

Last time I returned a found visa card (which BTW I found not 50m from a police station) which was just lying on the ground in a dark corner by the crossing I got the impression that they thought I was some kind of career criminal.

I was doing a good deed, and the officer was giving me the 3rd degree! I used to be able to return things without filing but now it’s too much hassle to return to the police station.

If I do pick them up now, I just put them in an envelope and mail them to the bank on the card… but I still have to go to the post office and pay the mail fee! It’s getting so frequent that now I just want to leave them on the ground or wherever.
