I tried their vanilla … it’s quite nice. I’m not sure how ‘real’ their ice cream is. Oh, I just checked. At least 81% by weight milk & cream. That doesn’t include milk solids, either. They do add a bit of guar gum, glycerine (probably for texture) and sodium alginate (which lead to a whole new rabbit hole of GERD treatment!). So it’s pretty close to pure ice cream, unlike Coldstone.

Coldstone Vanilla Bean

So Coldstone remove the eggs and to enhance the custard, they add cellulose gum, polysorbate and TC. In addition, they add corn syrup. While neither is good food, only one of these is not junk food! Watch what manufacturers, esp. American ones, put in your ice cream.

Ice cream should be a healthy food (it shouldn’t be a junk food), but the way manufacturers add chemicals, fake sugars and thickeners to create faux-healthy products is enough to make me barf. Mackie’s don’t hide their ingredients, don’t add chemicals, and don’t substitute to save $$$.
