So I finished week 7 at 84.6kgs. Not so much to report this week. I only dropped about 0.1kg since last week, so rate of change is slowing. I’m not surprised but I was thinking that perhaps it’s because of the type of fat I’m losing.

It can’t be because I’m eating too late. I keep that time within 10:14 or so. Some people rave about 8:16 but I honestly couldn’t reach that goal. So 10:14 is fine. I’ve also kept eating carbs in bread and fruit… but cut out most of the chocolate & cookies MOST of the time. I think perhaps I ate too much of that recently. No worries! Don’t give up! NEVER give up!

On day 50, I’ve recorded a loss of 3.6kgs from 88.2 to 84.6kgs versus last year when I went from 92.5 to 88.1kgs at the same point. So I’m losing slight less at this point: 3.6kgs vs. 4.4kgs. It’s fine, I’ll take it! With a lower BMR than last year… this is a puzzle.

I started delving into the results from last year’s effort. There really isn’t that much difference. In fact, I made some errors in last year’s numbers. What’s strange, though, is that my BMR as dropped from 1,759 to 1689 (about -3.95%), and my calories burned has dropped from 2237 to 2170 (about -3.03%).

So my exercise time has dropped a little too… 122.3 minutes average daily to 118.40 (about -3.19%). The oddity seems to lie in average calories burned: it’s been fairly constant: from 482.5 to 480.3. (about -0.46%). It’s getting harder. To be expected, I guess. Actually, I’m surprised at the constancy despite the variations on a day to day basis.

The challenge going forward is to lose more than last year’s day 51 to 90. In fact, last year I didn’t lose that much over that period, I just went from 88.1 to 86.8kgs over 40 days! And it turns out I’m not comparing averages like for like. Turns out that I was actually burning 2318.2 with a move time of 138.0 minutes and a calorie deficit of 544.4.

So I might have to make a different call this time around. Last time, I started going to Qigong class at 7am, which messed with my life schedule. I also was doing regular uphill walking which I haven’t done as much of this year. My soleus muscle injury last summer hasn’t quite healed… so when I tried it a couple of times, pain/discomfort seemed to reappear! I decided to defer.
