Thank you for updating my plugin without adequately warning or notifying me… or giving me a choice to go with the old reports.
Thank you for demanding access to not just my Analytics account, but also Adsense, and Google Webmasters and refusing to work if I don’t.
Thank you for removing my old analytics code so the data stops tracking. And thank you again for providing such a spammy introduction to the dashboard that I thought my site had been hacked.
Well, I can only appreciate how well you must take care of your other customers. Oh, and I forgot… thanks a lot for completely removing all the old plugin versions, so I can’t even rollback to the previous version…
Wow! I can’t thank you enough!
So I give you five stars and take away four because I can’t give you ‘zero’ stars. You’re welcome.
It’s funny though, after the YOAST spamware at Christmas… you’d think other plugin writers would be more careful. Well, apparently… no one learns.
Now where is Google Site Kit? It does everything for me!
I don’t like to lambast plugins as plugin writers work quite hard and the permutations of servers and code mean that there is always going to be problems that can’t be fixed, like the issue I’m having with BunnyCDN.
But
There are times when plugins become swamped by poor design or poor management. I’m not sure what primed ExactMetrics to do what they did, except money.
Apparently they bought the old plugin and turned it into a multi-million dollar company. So I guess they did alright. But 930 1 star reviews tells you a lot; but 930 reviews vs 535 5 star reviews says that you really shouldn’t bother with this plugin.
However, the Gain WP fork hasn’t been updated in a long time. GAinWP Google Analytics Integration for WordPress – WordPress plugin | WordPress.org so I guess SiteKit is the big winner.
Though I have to say with 500,000 installs ExactMetrics must be doing something right. That’s a heck of a lot of money on the table! Hope they spend it well.
