This seems unnecessary, unless there’s news that hasn’t broken. The toxin is the result of fermentation or cross-contamination. It’s hard to see how banning flat noodles will help.
Bengkrek acid poisoning is a thing, to be sure. But there have never been fatalities here before. My reading suggests that the acidity levels and salt levels are factors in the production of the toxin.
So unless global warming is changing our environment, it’s hard to see the benefit of doing this. It’ll probably do nothing, except get the governments brownie points for ‘being seen to do something’.
