So it farmers get NT$27.7 for a liter of milk. $3billion / 108000000 liters of milk. ChatGPT says it’s about NT$32 for farmer’s rates in Ablerta. I guess global input costs are similar and there don’t seem to be any subsidies for milk production here.
So… local milk is quite expensive. I’m impressed how much choice there is now. But I still prefer imported milk for its flavor. I don’t know what local cows eat… but the milk usually tastes ‘sour’ to me. It’s not unique to Taiwan… the Meiji milk in Japan was similar. Is it my imagination?
