Taiwan is a wonderful country, really. But safety is not top priority in most people’s minds if you judge by the driving on weekends. I don’t think it matters that safety signs aren’t as numerous as other places, because most people don’t read them anyway.

But driving on the road is a real experience here: dangerous driving, inconsiderate drivers, and passengers, garbage tossed out of the window, drunk driving, drivers who think because they have a beat up old Merc that they are kings of the road,… and that’s just what I saw coming home today.

It’s a pity but I really believe driving brings out the worst in people: so now I vow to drive to stay alive, drive to survive, and drive to arrive (in that order)… That’s the only rules for survival on taiwan’s roads.
