How many days are there left in 2010? It’s getting kind of close to Christmas, don’t you think? A full three months and10 days! So what you worried about? There’s plenty of time to get those festive white led christmas lights at the store and put them up on the tree or door! I mean after all, summer just finished.
Well, if you go to Costco as we did a month ago, we discovered they were already stocking quite a lot of Christmas gear on the shelves, even as the heat of summer was in full swing. In Taiwan, it isn’t even a holiday, nor is it celebrated by any officialdom beyond the tiresome parties, that seem to be excuses to have fun.
In truth, this Christmas isn’t going to be quite so festive for many folks in the West. With unemployment high, and paypackets likely reduced, additional spending cuts are going to topple some Western countries into a long and darker Christmas.
It bodes well for the larger retailers with aggressive pricing and cost structures! So I’m betting that stores like Costco, Carrefour, and Tesco will do well.
