Bamboo is a wonderfully strong material: in fact, the first impression I had of the properties of Bamboo was in my first visit to Hong Kong in 1992 when I saw it being used as a construction support on buildings there. I was amazed that Bamboo would hold up anything at all, but it is a naturally strong, and flexible natural material that is widely used in this part of Asia for construction.
Its uses don’t stop there, either. You will frequently come across bamboo used in making furniture, such as chairs, tables, beds, and even bamboo blinds because of its natural flexibility and innate strength. So, the next time you are looking at a piece, stop and wonder.
