On this blog over the past few years, I have highlighted some websites that helped to save money on flights, room bookings, travel services, and tours. In fact, comparison sites are now common in many industries. So common that I have begun to wonder: does anyone pay full price for hotels, tickets, tours, services, or indeed any holiday-related expenses, these days?

For example, if you travel to a destination like Miami for your dream florida vacation through a company like Bookit, you can reserve flights, hotels, car rentals, etc. all from one interface. But the law of price dictates: what you save in one place you may pay back in another.

Questions arise, though: can you be sure you’re getting the best deal for everything? What happens when things go wrong… and they will? Does a company like Bookit make it clear what deals they can provide? Are they representative of all companies, or are they owned by one or more of the service providers themselves?

So, before you sign up on some ‘great deal’, read the fine print carefully, and understand what you are buying, and what you’re not. Shopping these days requires a clear head, online and offline.
