I was diagnosed with GERD about six years ago, and had to take some drastic action, to lose weight. Initially, I switched to vegetables and few carbohydrates and lost 4kgs quickly. Then I found an Atkins diet plan which I tried for a couple of months. I did try to continue eating more fruit than he recommended, but when I combined that with exercise, my weight fell off.

I reduced from about 92kgs to 84 at one point. Which was terrific. But then I began to fall off the wagon on that point, I don’t really know why. So I think the Atkins diet really works. Wikipedia provides a good introduction to the Atkins phenomenon.

I am now focusing on trying to improve my lifestyle, and I found some good resources on support and recipes. I think most likely these were the two reasons why I failed the first time I tried it… Both support and recipes provide the long term backup for this kind of success.
